Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about THC, our operations, and how you can help.

THC is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides emergency flood and fire relief across the state. We coordinate logistics, deploy volunteers, and deliver supplies to communities hit by natural disasters. We're also committed to wild land preservation — currently focused on protecting Big Bend National Park.

Every dollar goes directly toward disaster relief operations — fuel for supply trucks, temporary shelter materials, food and water distribution, and on-the-ground volunteer coordination. Funds also support our wild land preservation efforts. We maintain full financial transparency and publish annual reports detailing how funds are allocated.

Sign up for our newsletter to receive volunteer call-outs when disaster strikes. We need people on the ground for supply distribution, skilled tradespeople for rebuilding efforts, and remote volunteers for coordination and logistics support.

We operate statewide across Texas, responding wherever floods, wildfires, or other natural disasters impact communities. Our network of volunteers and partners allows us to mobilize quickly to any region of the state.

Texas is home to some of the most irreplaceable wild lands in the country — from Big Bend's desert canyons to the Gulf Coast wetlands. Our preservation work focuses on protecting these landscapes from development and degradation. Right now, our primary effort is stopping construction that threatens Big Bend National Park.

We work alongside community partners including Mill Scale and Best Little, among others. These partnerships strengthen our ability to respond quickly and effectively when disaster strikes. We're always open to new partnerships with organizations that share our mission.

The most critical supplies include clean drinking water, non-perishable food, tarps and temporary shelter materials, first aid kits, hygiene products, and work gloves. During active responses, we publish specific supply lists based on the situation on the ground.

We're Texan through and through. While national organizations play an important role, THC is built by Texans for Texas communities. We know the terrain, the people, and the unique challenges this state faces. Our lean structure means faster response times and less overhead — more of your dollar reaches the people who need it.
